Filmmaker SS Rajamouli is currently promoting his upcoming movie “Varanasi” internationally while production on the project continues. As part of these promotional activities, including a visit to Brazil for the São Paulo International Film Festival, the director discussed the production hurdles of the ambitious film with a media outlet.
According to Rajamouli, the primary obstacle in creating the movie compared to his previous work on “RRR” is the sheer scale of both the narrative and the filming process. He explained that individual sequences—such as those set in the city of Varanasi, Africa, Antarctica, and a time-travel segment in the Ugarbathi Caves—resemble entirely separate films. He stated that these distinct segments are united by an underlying emotional core, and noted that the production team conducted extensive research because each sequence differs completely from the others.
